Freshman/Sophomore Year Package
Preferred Admissions will meet with students in the 9th and 10th grade to discuss course selection, extracurricular activities, and constructive ways to spend the summer. This package consists of one 1-hour meeting in their freshman and sophomore years.
College List Development
This package is for the student who only wants help developing a college list. There will be an in-depth meeting with the student and parent. The student will complete a questionnaire to pinpoint the criteria that the student prioritizes most in a college. The student will meet with Preferred Admissions up to four times in order to identify the college search criteria and for the Consultant to develop a college list.
Comprehensive Package
A family wanting Preferred Admissions to work with you throughout the entire college application process should request the comprehensive package. Preferred Admissions will work with you through each step of the college admission process. This package is primarily for students in their junior/senior year of high school.
The package includes:
- Assessment of the student’s high school transcript, course selection, schedule, standardized test scores, and activities.
- In-depth discussion with the student and parents to understand what the student is looking for in a college and to identify criteria to be used in the college search.
- Create a list of “best fit” colleges taking into consideration the criteria set by the student and parents.
- Discuss forms of financial aid.
- Suggest different methods for the student to begin researching the schools on the college list.
- Create a schedule/timeline for standardized test taking, the application process, creating a resume and interviewing techniques.
- Explain the types of applications and help student choose which is appropriate for him/her to use.
- Personal Statement- brainstorm topic, outline the essay, proofread.
- Comprehensive package includes up to three essays.
- Work side by side with student to complete parts of the application. Help student highlight his/her activities, community service and work experience.
- Develop timeline in order to meet requirements of the identified schools.
- Assistance with assessing letters of acceptance to the various schools.
Senior Year Package
This package includes all of the items provided in the comprehensive package, however, this package will be completed in a shorter amount of time than the comprehensive package.
Hourly Services
Sometimes families have a very specific need they would like assistance with. Preferred Admissions will work with these families on an hourly basis to help them with specific aspects of the college application process.
Transfer Students
Students transfer schools for a variety of reasons. Preferred Admissions is here to help students have a thoughtful approach to transferring and acclimating to their new environment.
